EXAM TIPS FOR PARENTS- 7 WAYS TO HELP YOUR CHILD ACE BOARD EXAMINATION:

While exams themselves are associated with high-stress levels, adding the word BOARD- amplifies it manifold. Getting stressed before the examination is a common phenomenon both among students as well as parents, what matters is how one deals with it.

Following are certain tips, that will help your ward manage their stress and ace the examination : -

HELP YOUR CHILD IN PLANNING-
Planning holds prime importance when it comes to managing stress. Devote time with your children to help them chalk out their priorities keeping their strong and weak areas in mind. Analyze their performance every week and also help them to make amendments accordingly. Do include appropriate breaks in the routine so as to make them relax.

BE AVAILABLE-
During the board examination, the students have to study a lot, which puts them under enormous anxiety and stress. Talking to them periodically makes them feel comfortable and relaxed. Being available both physically and emotionally helps them mitigate their tension before the examination.
Ensure that they eat healthy and nutritious food and take good sleep. During the examination time, keep a hold on your TV shows, vacations, get-together, or any other activity that may bring a distraction to the student.

MONITOR PROGRESS via MOCK TEST-
A good result is an outcome of good preparation and good practice. Ensure that your child takes multiple mock tests in the exam-like scenario, and completes them within the stipulated time. Post-tests ask them to evaluate their performance, document their mistakes, and identify their weak and strong areas. This will help them to make an effective plan for revision.
You can help them with the revision by taking their oral test and assisting them in making flashcards, formulas sheets, etc.

HAVE REALISTIC EXPECTATIONS -
You know your child’s ability very well, so, expect from them accordingly. Comparing your child with others is not going to benefit anyone. Never use any words or sentences that may demotivate or belittle them.

DISCUSS THEIR EXAM STRATEGY-
Board examination consists of both the subjective and the objective parts. To get good marks one needs to have a proper strategy. Help them to pen- down a proper strategy for various subjects. Focus on areas like – how to utilize the reading time given during examination, which type of questions to attempt first, how to write neat and clean answers, how to divide time judiciously between different questions etc. This exercise will help them with a clear plan and ultimately fetch good marks.

AVOID DISTRACTIONS FROM STUDY-
Excessive chilling out with friends, listening to music while studying, using a lot of social media, etc. are some of the key activities that need to be monitored. These activities kill students’ attention and bring distractions. Even if you are watching T.V., listening to music, going out, etc., this also gives them the feeling of missing out and thereby, bringing distractions. So, you need to avoid all these activities both at your end and your child’s end. .

THINGS TO DO AFTER THE EXAM-
Ask them how their examination was. Let them speak their heart out. Discuss their next plan of action for the upcoming papers. Do not go for the detailed analysis of the paper immediately after the exam, this may affect their confidence in the upcoming papers. Let all the papers get finished and then go for the discussion so that they learn from their mistake.

So,these were the examination tips that will help you manage your and your child’s stress before the board examination.
