Here is a practical, time-tested strategy to help you prepare for NEET and CBSE Boards simultaneously, without panic or burnout.
1. Start with the Right Mindset and Tools
Before you begin, sit down with:
- A notebook or register
- A pen
- Your NCERT textbooks
This is not passive preparation. Writing plays a crucial role in board exam readiness, so ensure you actively note down concepts, formulas and answers.
2. Do Not Ignore English and the Elective Subject
Along with Physics, Chemistry and Biology, remember that English and one elective subject are equally important for boards.
Action Plan:
- Allocate 1 hour daily for English and the elective.
- Go through CBSE sample papers and previous years’ questions.
- Understand question patterns rather than memorising content.
3. Create a Chapter-Wise Master List for Core Subjects
For Physics, Chemistry and Biology, create three separate pages in a register.
For each subject:
- List all chapters
- Create four columns:
- Theory
- Illustrations / NCERT Questions
- NEET PYQs
- Revision 1 and Revision 2
This structured approach ensures systematic coverage and multiple revisions.
4. Physics Preparation Using the CDF Rule
Physics should be studied using the CDF Rule:
- Concept
- Definition
- Formula
How to study Physics effectively:
- Write down definitions and derivations.
- Practise formulas repeatedly until you can write them without referring.
- Solve NCERT illustrations and back questions in proper board-answer format.
- Practise NEET Previous Year Questions, as many concepts overlap with boards.
Reading NCERT line by line is especially important for assertion–reason questions.
Target: Complete all Physics chapters within 30 days.
5. Chemistry: Writing Is the Key to Scoring
Allocate 2 hours daily for Chemistry.
Organic Chemistry
- Focus on chapters from Halo alkanes to Amines.
- Make a separate list of name reactions.
- Write reactions repeatedly until they become effortless.
- Name reactions are highly important for NEET and CBSE Boards.
Inorganic Chemistry
- Chapters like Coordination Compounds require repeated reading.
- Focus on:
- Coordination number
- Structures
- Isomerism
- Oxidation number
Physical Chemistry
- Important chapters include Solutions and Chemical Kinetics.
- Practise numerical, but do not skip NCERT theory lines.
- Solve NEET PYQs from the last 10 years for conceptual clarity.
6. Biology: NCERT Is Your Bible
Biology is 100 percent NCERT-based for both boards and NEET.
Step 1: Categorise Chapters
- Easy chapters: Reproductive Health, Microbes in Human Welfare, Ecosystem
- Medium chapters: Biotechnology
- Lengthy chapters: Reproduction, Evolution, Human Health and Disease, Genetics
Step 2: Write and Do Not Just Read
- Write answers for NCERT questions
- Practise diagrams regularly
- Solve NEET PYQs of the last 10 years
- Tag difficult PYQs directly in NCERT and revise those topics again
Step 3: Master Genetics Separately
Genetics is often left till the end, but it carries high weightage.
Create subtopic-wise lists:
- Mendel’s Laws
- Incomplete Dominance
- Co-dominance
- Polygenic Inheritance
- Human Genetic Disorders
- Molecular Basis of Inheritance
Tick off each subtopic only after reading it thoroughly from NCERT and solving questions.
7. 30-Day Completion + 15-Day Revision Plan
First 30 Days
- Complete full syllabus of Physics, Chemistry and Biology
- Focus on:
- NCERT theory
- Writing practice
- NEET PYQs
Next 15 Days: Revision Phase
- Solve only NEET PYQs of all three subjects
- Allocate 2 hours per subject daily
- Focus more on questions, less on theory
- Revise theory only if a question exposes a weak area
8. Board-Specific Practice Is Non-Negotiable
- Download CBSE sample papers from the official website
- Solve:
- Current year sample papers
- Previous year board papers
- Competency-based questions
- Write answers in proper board format
Avoid questions from chapters removed from the syllabus.
9. After Boards: Shift Focus Fully to NEET
Once the board exams are over:
- Focus primarily on Class 11 syllabus
- Strengthen weak areas
- Begin test series preparation
- Avoid panic about Class 12 content, as it has already been revised multiple times
Success in NEET and CBSE Boards depends not on studying more, but on studying smart.
Stick to NCERT, write regularly, solve NEET PYQs, and follow a clear timetable.
Start today, stay consistent and trust the process.
All the best for your Board Examinations and NEET.
